Sensei Steve Apsega is the Head Instructor and Owner of Maine Traditional Karate. He is a former US Marine and has over 25 years of training in the Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito System.

Maine Traditional Karate offers multiple Shorin Ryu classes for all levels which allows for a rich training experience for beginners and black belts alike. Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito is a traditional orthodox Okinawan karate style. In our dojo you will learn Okinawan culture, customs and language along with ancient fighting and weapon techniques developed by the Okinawans.

Our youth classes offer a safe, fun, and challenging environment for younger students to train while developing confidence and skill.

Our beginner and advanced adult classes will offer a challenge for anyone new to the martial arts as well as those with years of training.
